14th Toru Giga Prague Kendo Cup 2005
This
year's Prague Kendo Cup was held between 21st and 23rd October 2005.
It was preceeded by a Kendo seminar on Friday and Saturday , for
which we had some very skilled senseis. Seminar was lead by Kamemoto
sensei (6th dan) from Austria, who focused mainly
on basics, such as distance and time of the attacks, as well as
kirikaeshi. There was also a Kendo Kata lesson and plenty of time
for jigeiko with senseis. Kamemoto sensei was well assisted by other
senseis, namely Kibe sensei (6th dan - Hungary),
Ishikubo sensei (5th dan - Romania), Kustosz sensei
(5th dan - Poland). We also had a special guest, who taught
at the Friday's practice, Yanai sensei (7th dan
- Great Britain).
On Sunday the tournament was held. Over 90 participans from 7 countries
competed. The chief referee was Mr.
Hiroshi Ozawa (7th dan kyoshi), who arrived for
the tournament and the short stage in the Czech Republic. Many good
matches were seen and many competitors showed high skill as well
as fighting spirit. Final matches were observed by a representatives
from the embassy of Japan, who took the whole event under their
patronage.

3rd place: Masahiro Miyoshi (Czech Rep.) and Wolfgang
Mraz (Austria)
Best fighting spirit award: Malgorzata Szuba (Poland)

We wish to thank all the sensei, that they have dedicated their
effort to improve Kendo level in our region. We also wish to thank
all participants, that thay have arrived and showed good Kendo spirit.
Finally we wish to thank all the people from the both Prague's Kendo
dojos Katsubo Kenrikai and Sandomon
who participated in the preparation of the event.
